This 1909-11 T206 Bob Groom has been graded SGC 4.5 VGEX+ and carries a Piedmont back. The T206 "White Border" set, distributed by the American Tobacco Company, is one of the most celebrated pre-war issues in the hobby. At SGC 4.5 VGEX+, it ranks among the stronger mid-grade examples of the set, with a clean image and wear limited mostly to the corners. The front features lithographed artwork framed by the set's signature white border.
Bob Groom was a pitcher who broke into the majors with the Washington Senators and later pitched for St. Louis and Cleveland. He was a workhorse in an era when starting pitchers routinely finished what they started.
