This 1971 Topps Jerry West #50 has earned an SGC 5 EX grade. Early-1970s Topps basketball cards are scarce in high grade, and this card from the era of West’s 1972 championship season is an accessible vintage piece for Lakers collectors.
Jerry West starred at West Virginia before the Los Angeles Lakers selected him 2nd overall in the 1960 NBA Draft. He spent his entire 14-season career with the Lakers, winning the 1972 NBA championship, the 1969 Finals MVP, and 14 All-Star selections, and his silhouette is widely recognized as the inspiration for the NBA logo. West is a Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame (HOF) inductee (1980). Over his career, he averaged 27.0 points, 5.8 rebounds and 6.7 assists per game, scoring 25,192 points.
