This 1989 Fleer Bill Ripken #616 is the famous FF error version, graded SGC 8.5 NM-MT+. An obscenity written on the knob of Ripken’s bat went unnoticed until the cards reached packs, prompting Fleer to correct it, which made this one of the most notorious error cards in hobby history. Rookie cards from a player’s debut season remain the cornerstone of most player collections.
Bill Ripken was a second baseman who spent most of his career with the Baltimore Orioles, where he played alongside his brother Cal Ripken Jr. and under their father, Cal Ripken Sr. Known for his defense, he later played for the Rangers, Indians, and Tigers.
