This 1989 Fleer Randy Johnson Rookie #381 is the Marlboro ad version, graded PSA 9 Mint. The original printing shows a Marlboro billboard in the background that Fleer later obscured, making this one of the hobby’s best-known variations and a classic oddball for error and variation collectors.
Randy Johnson starred at USC before beginning his MLB career with the Montreal Expos. He became a dominant ace with the Seattle Mariners and later pitched for the Astros, Diamondbacks, Yankees, and Giants, winning five Cy Young awards, the 2001 World Series as co-MVP, and 303 games with 4,875 strikeouts. Johnson is a National Baseball Hall of Fame (HOF) inductee (2015).
