This 1909-11 T206 Rebel Oakes with its Piedmont back has been graded SGC 3 VG. Known among collectors as The Monster, the T206 tobacco set features more than 500 cards and remains the most celebrated pre-war baseball issue. This survivor from the dead-ball era is a solid addition for set builders and anyone collecting original early twentieth-century baseball cardboard. The SGC holder protects the card and makes it simple to display.
Rebel Oakes was a center fielder who broke in with the Cincinnati Reds before moving on to the St. Louis Cardinals. He later served as player-manager of the Pittsburgh club in the Federal League.
