This 1955 Bowman Hoyt Wilhelm #1 has been graded PSA 3 VG and holds the leadoff spot in the 1955 Bowman set. First cards in a set are notoriously tough to find in high grade because they sat on top of stacks and rubber-banded piles, making any solid example of this Hall of Fame pitcher a welcome addition.

Hoyt Wilhelm built a remarkable career on the knuckleball, debuting with the New York Giants and winning the 1954 World Series. He went on to pitch for the Cardinals, Indians, Orioles, White Sox, Angels, Braves, Cubs, and Dodgers, pitching into his late 40s. Wilhelm is a National Baseball Hall of Fame (HOF) inductee (1985), the first reliever enshrined. Over his career, he went 143-122 with a 2.52 ERA, 228 saves and 1,070 games pitched.
